Gunsmith in the USMC?
I always wanted to join the Marine corps but i wanted to be a gunsmith as well so i decided i would take MOS 2011 (small arms repairer) but i also wanted to take the gunsmith courses they offer in a school close to my home (a 1 year affair to learn complete gunsmithing, including machining of pieces and building a rifle from the ground up) before i joined up. I don’t know if this would simply be a job of saying this gun is ok and issue it or also perform repairs, rebuilds, gun personalization, upgrading older models (DMR to EBR or M1911 to ICQB pistol), sight alignment, emergency field work, FOB deployments et.c. any advice would be appreciated. (I’m not interested in the US Army gunsmithing stuff btw)
You will learn everything and anything about the small arm weapons in your unit. How to repair, troubleshoot ( in and off the field) and modify with new optics things like that. You will also be working inside a small weapons armory most the time and know all the inventory you have and issue out weapons. You will also assist in transporting and shipping this weapons in containers. These ae considered sensitive items so you always have to know what you have and where they are. Always be on top of your job.considered quite a laxed job in the marines
