Airsoft guns make for rather fun activities no matter who you happen to be, but before you decide to jump into an airsoft game for the first time, you will probably want to know a bit about tactical airsoft guns, how they work, and why they were created. After all, one has to wonder why such painstaking work was undertaken to recreate some of the world’s most popular firearms. As it turns out, there was a very good reason for this, and it had to do with the banning of firearms in Asian countries.
In the mid-1970′s, the ownership of firearms by private individuals had actually become illegal, and the first airsoft guns were actually detailed replicas of standard issue firearms. It wasn’t long before it spread to China, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and even the Philippines. All of these countries had a ban on firearms, and with that being the case, it is not particularly surprising that these imitation firearms became so incredibly popular!
It wasn’t long before they spread to America, and soon enough, there were three different types of airsoft guns, at least as far the firing mechanism goes. All airsoft guns would fire 6mm plastic BB’s, as is custom, but it should be noted that the first and most popular type of airsoft gun is the spring powered variant. These cannot be automatic, but they are efficient, and they do tend to work quite well. Springs are simply used to propel the pellet through the muzzle, and to fire again, the user will need to re-cock the gun.
Electric airsoft guns, or AEG’s will also use springs for propulsion, but they are powered by a battery rather than manual action on the part of the user. These tactical airsoft guns can be automatic, and they will generally be more powerful than the standard spring powered devices, and with good reason. Now that you understand the history of where airsoft guns came from, you can appreciate them more and this knowledge may even add to your enjoyment. After all, you can imagine that the electric guns will have a lot more behind them!
