Wednesday 23 April 2025, 10am-4pm

In-person, Belfast

Join us to explore how your school can engage in teaching about the Holocaust through the Northern Irish curriculum. In partnership with the Special Collections and Archives department at Queen’s University Belfast, this workshop also aims to introduce teachers to local stories connected to Jewish Heritage in Northern Ireland. We will be joined by Dr Pamela Linden Aveyard, a Visiting Scholar at QUB's Centre for Public History, whose research explores the lives of Jewish refugees who escaped to Belfast during the 1930s.

Working across the UK, the Holocaust Educational Trust educates about the Holocaust and its contemporary relevance. We partner with schools, colleges and universities to provide teacher training, classroom resources, the Lessons from Auschwitz Project for post-16 students and teachers, and the opportunity to hear the personal testimony of a survivor through our Outreach programme.

More than 1200 teachers take part in our programmes each year. We offer professional CLPL workshops and residential courses free of charge to new and experienced teachers across the UK. Our sessions are delivered by an experienced team of practitioners and focus on pedagogical issues and practical ideas for your classroom.

Throughout the academic year, teachers are invited to join the following programmes:

  • Online Training Sessions
  • Bespoke Training Workshops
  • Teacher Study Seminars
  • Residential CLPL Courses
