what is some army gear and equipment?
okay im wondering what you get in the army like once you complete training and all that good stuff like….
what grenades you get?
what where is your knife?
can you change your issued gun?
how many guns do you/can you have?
how many grenades?
about how heavy is everything?
also can you customize your weapons or do you just have it the way its given to you like could you put a scope on it or do you need to use the iron sights?
and any other thing you can add in about training or equipment
im asking because i play video games and im wondering about the differences and i may want to make a difference in the world
The grenades (if any) that you pull will be mission specific.
You’re knife can go where ever you want it to go.
No, you can’t change your issued gun. At most you may be switched from an m249 saw gunner to a m4 rifleman or grenadier.
You will have your primary (m4 or MG) and a secondary (M9 pistol).
Grenades are mission specific.If you are a grenadier and have a 203 attached to your M4 the amount of 40 mm ammo will be according to the standard operating procedures of your unit.
The M240b is 27.6 pounds and the M249 SAW is 17 pounds. These weights are with the weapons not loaded. The M4 is…I believe 6 pounds unloaded.
The standard ammo load for any full automatic weapon such as the m240 and m249 is 600 rounds. The standard ammo load for the M4 carbine is 210 rounds or 7 magazines. Ammo is heavy.
Your body armor is around 33 pounds.
The standard M4 is no longer issued with just the iron sights. It now comes with a m68 CCO or close combat optic. Squad leaders are issued ACOG sights and sometimes team leaders are issued ACOG sights. However, that again is dependent on your units standard operating procedures.
You can customize your weapon but you would have to double check with your first line leadership on what you can and cannot put on your weapon. For my unit you already have everything on your weapon such as a flashlight, optic, and fore grip.
I wouldn’t suggest buying anything anyway until you actually get deployed and gain some knowledge or your team leader suggests that you get something. Military grade equipment is very expensive and it’s easy to waste your money on useless trash you don’t need. The only thing I would say to buy when you get to your unit is extra uniforms, name/branch tapes and non issue magazines.
The military life is not easy. You will hurt and be in pain most of the time. There isn’t any glory or need for the amount of glorification we get from the public. The military is a job. It has it’s ups and downs. Until you earn respect you won’t get any. Even then you won’t really get it until you reach E-4.
One of the job requirements is to be physically fit. So just have a mindset that you are an athlete and must train like one. Otherwise your weakness can and will get someone hurt or killed. PT tests are just a standard. You should always try to exceed the standard as much as possible.
If you decide to join then good. If you don’t, that’s fine too. Just remember that basic is really tough no matter what branch you join but you’re stronger for sticking it out.
