Airsoft Video Game Weapons
Actually, don’t you think airsoft is a GOOD influence? I teach elementary school, and kids are into guns now?
I think they will buy guns when they grow up. Ten year old kids now can tell you all the different types of military rifles and pistols. Guns are very popular now. I would love if guns got so popular that you could get a concealed weapon permit in Los Angeles.
If I just mention hunting or guns in passing, (For example, one of our stories is called “Lil Arliss and the Bear”) all the boys in the room suddenly have an ad hoc discussion about guns. Which I have to STOP or get in trouble with the principal/parents. And these are latino boys from economically depressed families. I get the Latino students because I can speak Spanish, and I get the English Language Learner Cluster. They cannot afford the best video games or toys. My room partner next door who (who HATES guns) has the gifted cluster, was complaining that all the video games make guns very glamourous to young boys. Apparently the children in the gifted cluster have every video game known to man.
Kids learning about firearms is good, provided that they also learn proper gun safety.
