Airsoft Tactics Sniper
Question about Army Basic Training Marksman Award?
1 What gun are you issued – The M4, M16A1, or A2 for this course in BCT?
#2 What are the size of the targets?
#3 How far away are you from the targets usually?
#4 How does the scoring work? Do you have to hit the bulls-eye every time to get 30/30 hit shots or is it just as long as you hit somewhere on the target?
#5 is it mixed with different firing positions (Stance, Prone, Crouch) and for a combined score?
I plan on getting a semi-auto .22 civilian M4 to harness the feeling and get practice, but with my 8 years of airsoft experience and years of shooting bb guns and target shooting at the range with real guns I think I will be close to hitting all the shots if not all of them to get the award.
I don’t want to be a sniper, because I am more into CQB tactics and team tactics but hopefully this will get me into 11B after OSUT and maybe Airborne School. I would like to be a team leader I am that kind of person.
BTW I’m not a girl this is my fiance’s account.
1. either the M4 carbine, or the M16A4. If you are actually going to Infantry OSUT. If not, you will probably see some ancient POS.
2. They are the size of the average man’s torso, chest, shoulders, neck and head. Called Ivan’s.

4. There is no ‘bulls eye’. you see a target pop up at random, shoot it, then it goes down. you can hit it in the tip of the shoulder and it counts as a kill
5. yes. 40 total shots, supported prone, unsupported prone, kneeling.
Don’t waste your money. The army will train you how to shoot. Don’t attempt to practice, as you will practice bad habits and eventually screw yourself
Good. I am glad you don’t have any aspirations to be a sniper.
God help your Team Leader when you inprocess. He will need lots of patience with you. You have bad habits from Airsoft without a doubt and will drive him crazy trying to tell him that ‘you know this’
You sound like you arent even going to be infantry. If it aint in writing its not happening. Your aspirations of 11B and airborne school are unfounded. If you want to be Airborne Infantry, enlist for it. Don’t ‘hope’. But, you more than likely will end up angry at me for disturbing your Airsoft wannabe world and tell me that ‘someone told you this’ or ‘this is what my friends uncle said I could do’. And thats ok. I did what was right in warning you. Just think about me when your in the front leaning rest.
