Airsoft Sniper Spring Guide
Do you have to get a new Spring Guide for a new spring in a Jg Bar 10?
I bought a JG Bar 10 airsoft sniper rifle and also bought a new spring to come along with it. I was wondering if I needed a new spring guide for the new spring. Also do I need anything else to get for the new spring? like pistons, sears, etc.
Keep in mind you put this question in the Hunting section. The folks here don’t take too lightly to that. Try keeping it to Outdoor Recreation – Other. But since I put this here telling you, there should be no need for flaming since you now know.
Anyways down to the question at hand.
Short answer? No, you do not need a new spring guide.
The JG Bar-10 and any other spring rifle airsoft replicas are fairly simple in operation and have a low part count. Depending on the change in FPS, the only thing you would want to look at is a really rugged heat-treated sear set since that is what is holding all of the potential energy the piston has. If you really cranked up the FPS (to the tune of 500 or more with a .20g) you might want to look at a zero-trigger although it is an expensive add on.

If your upgrading the spring to about 450 FPS with a .20 you should be okay running it in the stock config for a while, but if your piston doesn’t lock back anymore when you bring the bolt back, the sears have gone out. I would suggest you get reinforced sears for the longevity of your replica.
