Is removing the orange tip on Airsoft guns REALLY illegal? (N.E. Indiana)?
I keep hearing from other Yahoo Answers, forums, blogs, etc. that removing/painting over the annoying orange tip on Airsoft guns is “illegal dude, you’ll get shot by a cop” or “it’s completely legal, unless you’re selling it.” I recently bought an Airsoft AK-47 from MC Sports and the orange tip is HUGE. I want to know, is it REALLY illegal to remove it, or is it just for the retailers to keep it on when they sell it to you? I believe the latter, either because I think it’s true or because I want to believe it. I want a truthful answer, please. (P.S. I live in Northeast Indiana.)
I’m not sure if this applies to your state but you only need to have the orange tip when you buy it. You can then paint over it or buy a new flash hider or suppressor. This does mean that you mustn’t show your gun in public all the more and only at your airsoft field.
